With this portrait I dropped the colour saturation of the paints to suggest a more thoughtful side of my nature. Even though on the outside I’m happy, there is sadness in my past that haunts me sometimes. I’m still in a process of acceptance but I’m a lot better now than I was before. In this portrait my eyes are glossy and my nose slightly red to give the impression of holding back tears whilst trying to have a straight face. The reason for a single plant is to show a sense of vulnerability in contrast to ‘Peakaboo’ where I’m surrounded by the plants which, for me, represents a safe and comforting atmosphere.
